The MFA audition is a solo work and I love crafting it. So this fall, I’m offering coaching designed specifically for the grad school applicant! I truly consider this audition to be an art form, one whose rules I both respect and defy (a little :)). I love how the selection of material communicates so much about the actor’s values and aims for their career; I even love the process of digging around to find that perfect partnership of monologues that, in minutes, share who you are and the wide spectrum of art you’re into. Today is my dear mom’s birthday! 🎉 With the T

Today is my dear mom’s birthday! 🎉 With the Tonys approaching, I’m thinking about that day Mom took off work (**and let me take a day off from school**) to drive me to San Francisco for my college auditions. We were both totally lost in Union Square navigating all the hotels and random conference centers hosting the various universities I’d decided to apply to. But I remember Mom’s grounded presence that day. She hated driving to San Francisco (stick shift car, hills, etc.) but she knew how important these auditions were to me. Since that day, her support of my goals, my dreams, and my devotion to this art form has not once wavered. On that nutty day almost two decades ago, her confidence in me helped set me on this path: not only did I get into one of those schools, but I’m still here, doin’ it! I love you Mom. Call you later! ✨

Our SUFFS Original Broadway Cast Recording is out today. I’m thinking about all the albums I grew up with — A Chorus Line, Thoroughly Modern Mille, Rent — and the ways they inspired and led me to this pretty amazing moment. Shows can be fleeting, but recordings are immortal — I’m so excited for when this album reaches the ears of a youngster thirty years from now.
